I want it to be clear to whoever is reading this review, this is NOT an issue of faulty product or bad customer service. eSalon, as a whole, has been wonderful...
I bought the custom hair color (Dark Blonde -7.0), The professional 4-piece color tool kit, and Tinted Love in Blonde Neutralizer. All quality products; I usually get scalp irritation/ reaction but their formula didn't irritate my sensitive skin or have a strong odor. Everything is very well thought out and generous in comparison to other at home options. Tinted love has helped neutralize the bold "brass" I've been rockin, too.
I wanted to love my color but even after taking a few weeks to let it "grow on me" it's just not complimentary to my skin tone so there's no making it work...
To be fair; I did NOT upload a photo, add notes or speak with my colorist to provide an in depth history. They ask for a reason so help them, help you.... This thought added to my hesitance when debating on whether to let eSalon know I wasn't happy or not. It feels wrong to complain that it didn't turn out right, but I have to get this fixed. I'm confident they can help.
Now... this is what I feel I should of disclosed to my colorist, but at the time, didn't think it would matter: 3 months prior to ordering I had ombre (top half= level 5.0 medium brown, lower half = between level 8.0 and 9.0 light/med blonde warm undertones) I used a level 5.0 boxed dye for all one color. I stupidly colored my whole head instead of JUST the blonde. It turned out orange (between level 6.43-7.4) after the custom color; an improvement from what it was, but not what I expected (7.0 - Dark blonde). The end result, depending on whether I used toner, is between level 6.45- 5.43.
eSalon: Does that history make a difference? Can you suggest alt color options for me?

Love the way the color leaves my hair soft and shiny. Just wish I could get the right shade of red. Got just the right shade - it matches my natural color perfectly. Would like to have some highlights now. Thank you eSalon!

I've just used eSalon for the first time and am really delighted with the colour, it's exactly what I wanted. The product is so reasonably priced and well packaged. I found the dye so easy to use due to the clarity of the instructions and the addition of stain remover and stain guard is an excellent idea.

I used for the first time 1 month ago. The gray coverage is excellent and lasts a lot longer than any other hair coloring product I have used in the past. The color is great. I used to use root spray between colorings and I won't be needing that anymore.

1) packaging - so neat , so professional
2) easy of use , clear instructions and only few steps
3) it doesn't stink! it actually has a nice scent that didn't burn my eyes and make me gag like most boxed coloring sets
4) the most important - color is amazing! just what i wanted and needed , with gold hints and my hair are so shiny! I actually got quite few complements!

Sent in a picture of my natural hair color, because I just wanted something to cover the grey hair that's creeping up on me. This color was a perfect match, very easy to use and looks great. I couldn't ask for more...well actually one more thing..it is a great price too!!

My custom color is the perfect golden brown I have been looking for, the color is rich and has not faded at all. It removed all the brassy reds, and left a beautiful golden brown with a hint of red, I love it!

You all know the blonde hair type that makes you gag- medium blonde roots, but lenghts are everything between yellow and silver?
Well I had that :P
I had my natural color on the roots, so I ordered a custom blend from here to match my lenghts too. Medium blonde with a splash of ash.
This is perfect! It blended just the way I dreamed it would, no more yellow hair! And the ash tone is perfect!
I still have one coloring kit, but definitely gonna order more here!

Was skeptical, but decided to try it. I loved everything I received. I tried the shampoo, conditioner and styling gel. The instructions were very helpful and the color was excellent. It's been just a week, so can't comment on how it lasts. Will definitely order again. Update 8/25/17...still love it. Took a little time to get exact color, but I really enjoy the lasting color and ease of application.

My first experience was good but too dark and red!
Colorist was great in reformulating my next batch to counter the red and suggested a clarifying shampoo to tone my current color down and lighten it. Vey satisfied with help.

I couldn't believe how far the color went applying it. It felt good on my scalp. Almost all color burns and itches my scalp. I'm amazed it didn't. When the color was finished and I used the shampoo and conditioner it was awesome. My hair before the color felt wirerry and dry from store colors. My hair felt silky. It still feels soft and silky today. I like the end results of my color shade also.

This is by far the best hair color I've tried (no exaggeration). It's better than the many salon hair color products and without a doubt, the best home hair color I've used. The color does not fade easily and mine usually lasts for more than 2 weeks which is long for me since my hair is 90% gray. I tried this first at their studio in Culver City where you could get the color customized and applied by a professional colorist (for $45 at the time of my visit in June) and the colorist would give you a personal step-by-step instruction on how to apply the product. My colorist was Mindy and she is undoubtedly a pro and super nice!

I have been using eSalon for about a year now. It's convenient to have shipped to home, ready to use on MY schedule. No more waiting weeks for a color appointment. My only complaint is that it is more drying to my hair than the salon color that I was using, Redken Shades EQ, which never damaged my hair and I had been using it for years. eSalon, if you can match this, you can't be beat!

It really covered all my grays. After I washed my hair, it felt very silky and hydrated. Not sure if it was the color, shampoo, or conditioner. Overall I was very pleased.

I love this color! As I was waiting to finish the process, I was afraid it would be too dark! It was not as dark as I feared. My family loves it! At first the odor was a little strong but it quickly left! My daughter read the instructions for me as I performed the process. It was easy to do and no unusual colors on my skin! LOL Thank you!

I love this hair dye - it keeps my hair feeling strong and healthy but also delivers an intense colour, so it's well worth the money. Its easy to apply. Having it shipped on a regular interval also prevents me from colouring my hair too often, which is something I used to do when I bought hair dye off the shelf. eSalon are always very helpful with amending the colour as well, so if I feel like changing the shade slightly they are happy to oblige. I dye my hair a copper shade, which is prone to fading, but my eSalon colour lasts longer than shop-bought, and I can extend it further with the Color Enhancing Mask. They even once sent me a colour gloss (for free) which was excellent and I also reccommend that as well.

Moreover, my color hasn't been this close to it's natural shade (what I asked for) in as long as I can remember and It's even more beautiful. I'm in love. I was so impressed when my first eSalon coloring package arrived. Beautifully packaged. Personalized with your name on the explicit instructions. The color was absolutely perfect. It's just what I wanted. I cannot believe how healthy and vibrant my hair looks. I am so happy I gave this a shot and you should as well. I first ordered during a promo I saw on Facebook. I've received 2 more orders since then and have gotten Great Compliments. Color is awesome and holds up fantastic. I love smell of the product, I didn't smell like I just did my hair. First with the color I loved it. Because my friends said my does look orange, which I have It done by my hair stylist for 6 years. It was with me Light Blonde, and tab darker near the end. So many people said to me, your made younger more alive! Thank you

My natural light brown hair color is becoming grey. Common OTC at home brand hair color left a brassy red undertone. Esalon created my perfect color. It completely covers my grey and leaves a lovely very light brown. Love it
