Used the Temporary Root Touch-Up for the first time and was extremely disappointed. I had bought it as an emergency fix and decided to try it out before actually needing it in an emergency. Thank Heavens I did that. It not only didn't cover the grey, didn't remotely match my existing (esalon colored) hair, it also left the hair feeling stiff, clumpy and uncomfortable. Would never use it when I was thinking of getting lucky.

I had high hopes for this product. Unfortunately, it did not live up to my hopes. It didn't cover my grey well and it made my hair looked sticky and wet all day. It didn't hide anything but made it look worse...everyone could tell I was trying to hide my roots. It's not like I have a ton of grey hair either.. I'm in my early 30's. I've had better luck with powder than with this product. I would not recommend this product to a friend.

The color of this product blended well, but it is WAY too stiff for me to use. I’ve used similar root touch up products in the past and have loved the way they cover, but the color has always been off. I was excited to finally find one that matched beautifully, but extremely disappointed with how the product felt on my hair. Love other products, but unfortunately will not be able to enjoy this one :(

Unfortunately this is very sticky and difficult to apply. It can easily get on your skin easily, dries slowly, and it does not look nice in your hair. Looks like you put a big clump of mascara in your hair to cover gray.

I wanted this to be as good as the reviews but sadly it's not. The applicator doesn't apply it evenly. I need it most at my temples and ended up with it on my skin too. It took forever to dry and even then it still felt sticky and looked weird.

I found that it never fully dried and if I touch my hair I have dyed fingers also when opening the wand it sort of pops and splutters product a bit like opening a yoghurt top.

This product does the job but I wish it was easier to wash out. Had to do 2 deep shampoos to remove it before coloring my hair. After 1 shampoo I could still feel residues in my hair.

At first it looks pretty good, but when it dries it flakes badly. So for me. that means wear dark clothes only so the flakes don't show too much. How do you explain dark flakes on light clothing? Not dandruff.

It doesn't really apply well - and not easy to apply either. Plus, my hair feels like broom bristles after it's on - still and unnatural. Ended up throwing it out after the 2nd time I used it. And it's a shame, too, as your color doesn't hold as long as it did when I first started using it. It's gone from 8 wks coverage to maybe 4, if I'm lucky. And it always goes gray at my temples maybe 3 wks after using it.

First - I love the color. I used the suggested color when ordering - spot on perfect! On to application - there's room for improvement here. The color is a bit runny, upon pulling the application brush out, it dripped everywhere. Then there's the application brush, it's not very effective given the runny consistency of the liquid color.

By the time I needed this, my color was not as dark as when it first went on. The color in the touch up was darker than the rest of my color. Also, the wand was broken, when I tried to withdraw color wand , other part came apart and had to be fixed- happened every time color wand was withdrawn for the tube.

I really wanted to like this but I don’t. It doesn’t cover wirey greys that well. The brush applicator is in need of redesign. Because of the brush design it doesn’t do a good job of evenly applying the product. The brushes on the other end also didn’t help to distribute the color. And after it’s in my hair it makes my hair feel crunchy and almost look oily/dirty.

I am giving this product 2 stars only because it did cover my grey roots. HOWEVER, even after a shower and washing my hair it still feels sticky and tacky like glue. I am NOT pleased with this. I don't even know what to do to wash this stuff out, as my shampoo sure didn't work.

Every product I have ordered from ESalon has been outstanding, until now. I am a little disappointed with the Temporary Root Touch up, the color is fine, but the execution of the product and combing it through when dry is very hard on my hair. I have fine hair anyway and losing any amount is difficult, so when i comb this through it feels like my hair has glue in it. Hard to comb through and leaves it feeling hard and sticks up. I do like the volume it gives once I can figure out getting it styled!

The color was a little dark, but the main problem was with how long it took the product to dry on my hair. I applied with the wand and had to wait forever for it to dry so that I could brush it out with the other brush. Would not buy again!!!

I was a bit skeptical of matching my hair color to the touch up which was difficult but I guess better than my gray roots. It did stay nicely, it just looked obvious. Application is awkward with clumping.

The plastic bristle brush needs to be changed asap. When pulling out the brush to apply the color, there is a lot of sprinkling everywhere also the brush is too hard so color is not being applied properly. The brush needs to be softer. That's the reason I switched to the spray but for this order it was out of stock so I had to revert back temporarily. Very frustrating!!

The color seemed a bit dark for my hair. Hard to get just the right color. It did not shampoo out right away. It took 3 days of shampooing to get it not to feel hard at my hairline. The color did not stay on the small hairs at my ear. I would not try tjis again.

This product took a week to completely wash out of my hair. Way too dark for my light blonde color. I used just the tiniest bit on the roots at my part and it adhered like glue. I wish I could have gotten my money back. I had to shampoo five times, very specifically trying to get the gunk out. Very dissapointed! Love your other products, though.

When I pulled the wand out of the bottle, the color sprayed everywhere. It’s also leaves a sticky residue in your hair. Thought it would be more precise than the spray, but the spray doesn’t leave your hair nearly as sticky!!!

The product adds a lot of body to my hair. As I became more familiar with the application I tried to separate my hair with my left hand and apply with right hand the container fell and spilled color on my bathroom counter:( yikes! It did come off. The next time I used it, I got a 3oz plastic cup so I could stand the cylinder in the cup while I "painted" my hair roots with root kiss! It looks pretty good but not as Shiney as my hair color.

Heavy waxy feel but did cover grey

To put enough to cover grey roots made hair feel like it had a heavy waxy coating on it. It did cover the grey but couldn't wait to wash it out and put real color in my hair. I did wash it out 1st before I applied dye because I was afraid it might keep the permanent dye from sticking.

I've used it a couple of times and I'm not finding it very friendly. I put it on let it dry and when I brush it it's still kind of crusty in the color looks red but it's actually Brown.

I tried this product a couple of times but it made my hair feel sticky. I just didn't like how my hair felt after use. I will not use this again on my roots.

Wish they had this product with a smooth brush instead of the curly brush. It's not good for curly because it will tagle up your hair.

I usually get the cover story spray but the brown has been out of stock for MONTHS! I thought I would try this. This product makes your hair very stiff and it is extremely hard to apply. I will never purchase it again.

Great root cover up except the texture.

This is great for covering those pesky gray hairs that pop up in between colorings. My only complaint is the texture after it dries. It is very hard and crunchy. I've tried brushing it out but it still stays hard. Am I doing something wrong? Or is this just how the formula works? I tried using mascara before I purchased this and the texture is much better!

The product that I received was as dry as a bone.
The wand didn't even move, forget about pulling it out.
Since, I really needed a quick root cover. I added a water to the little tube. I've shaked it. No luck. Then I shaked it more and more. Finally, I got a sound that these two started to mix. As a result I got a liquidly blondish color solution and started to work with it. But the stuff didn't stay on the roots. Really unpleasant experience. I looked around and... voila! I used my Dior eyeshadow with the brush to cover the roots. OMG! It worked as a miracle. Maybe this Root Touch-Up was a defective or expired item, but I am done with this product for good.

Covers the grey well however the brushes are too small to brush through once dry so your left with hard roots.

I either picked the wrong color or this is a little strong for the red tone I picked. I thought the color was too dark. It did not blend in but rather stood out.

It is difficult to use the brush that comes with it. It is identical to an eyebrow brush that would be fine if I had short hair. But I have long hair so the brush tends to get tangled in my long hair. It is dificult to use on just my roots area. Maybe the spray would work better.

Good color, hard to wash out

I love how it covers my grey roots, but I don't like the feel of my hair with it on. When I wash my hair, the color washes out, but the waxy feeling doesn't wash out. I have washed it 4 times and it still feels waxy on my roots. I'm afraid the dye won't take next time I color it! Don't think I'll use this again!

The color was a perfect match, however the mechanics of the base were not so perfect. Pulling the applicator out worked well, but when I reinserted it, the liquid in the base overflowed the top. I suppose I didn't realize just how liquid the serum was and how easily it could run out of the base. Thus, I lost what may have been quite a bit of the color serum. Too bad.

I recently used this for the first time, when I had 1/2 inch of grown out gray and no time to color.
Pros: the shade they recommended to go with my color was great. It really was a perfect match!
Cons: it was thick and crunchy, even when combed through. I can't imagine using this on all my roots (I only did a small section.)
Caveat: perhaps it was my technique, that I applied it wrong? I will give it another try when needed and will update my review.
